Programul Academic Cambridge/Oxford Online Study include 8 cursuri / prelegeri online, sustinute de un profesor universitar de la University of Cambridge sau University of Oxford cu tematica Sanatate Publica si Biomedicina.
Program Description:
By the beginning of 2020, a smokeless battle has already begun. The battle against the epidemic is not only against the novel coronavirus but also against the widespread propaganda circulated by the media. Families are in lockdown as the death toll continues to increase. What is a coronavirus? What kind of infectious disease is this? How to protect yourself? The answers to these questions will be answered one by one in the project.
Under the guidance of professors from famous overseas universities, the program aims to help students build their knowledge of public health and biomedicine, especially coronavirus, and comprehensively improve their ability to solve practical problems, to lay a solid foundation for future studies and job applications.
In this project, students will learn about public health and general preventive medicine; the definition, types and causes of infectious diseases; the coronavirus outbreak; infection and immune response. At the end of the project, students will use these skills to solve real-world problems, submit their project reports, and demonstrate results.
Suggested Future Research Fields:
- Pathological changes and immune response caused by the SARS infection
- How the immune system fights the new coronavirus
- Innate immune response to virus infection and its regulation mechanism

Professor Baird, BSc, MSc, PhD, FASTMH
Position: PROFESSOR OF MALARIOLOGY, Head of Eijkman Oxford Clinical Research Unit
Biography: Kevin Baird is the Head of the Eijkman-Oxford Clinical Research Unit in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Professor of Malariology, Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. He earned a B.Sc. in Microbiology, an M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, and a PhD in Medical Zoology from Tulane University. He has long focused on Plasmodium vivax malaria, in particular on the problems of G6PD deficiency and cytochrome P-450 2D6 pharmacogenetics regarding the toxicity and efficacy of primaquine therapy against relapse of that species. His laboratory undertakes clinical trials of therapies against relapse of P. vivax, principally in Indonesian soldiers but also in village settings, in addition to laboratory and field studies of G6PD deficiency biochemistry, diagnostics, and epidemiology.
Example Syllabus:
- Public health and general preventive medicine: "Taking people as the research object, the application of macro and micro technology, studying factors affecting health, clarifying the relationship between the external environment factors and population health, public health strategies and measures, aiming to achieve disease prevention to improve health and prolong life, improving the quality of life as the goal of medicine." Topics include the concepts, importance and principles of public health.
- Definition, Types and Causes of Infectious Diseases: "Infectious diseases are diseases caused by various pathogens that can be transmitted from person to person, animal to animal, or human to animal." Students will study the definition, types and causes of infectious diseases.
- Fundamentals of Infectious Diseases: Students will explore the spread of serious diseases and how to protect themselves.
- Coronavirus Outbreak: Coronavirus outbreak has caused great repercussions in China and around the world. The topic focuses on the process of the coronavirus outbreak and epidemic prediction.
- Coronavirus Infection and Immune Response: Students will learn about coronavirus infection and the human immune response and develop their insights into coronavirus transmission.

Acest program este destinat tinerilor cu varsta minima de 16 ani, cu un nivel de limba engleza minim echivalent IELTS 5.0+ (B2).
Se vor forma grupe internationale de aprox 15 elevi, pentru inscriere se va trimite in avans un CV al elevului in limba engleza.
Cursurile se vor desfasura in zilele de sambata si duminca, in intervalul orar 10:00 – 12:00 ora UK (12:00 – 14:00 ora Romaniei), conform perioadei selectate.
La finalul celor 8 saptamani participantii vor primi *:
- certificat de participare
- raport academic
- scrisoare de recomandare din partea tutorelui
* conditionat de prezenta la curs si predarea la timp a temelor/ proiectelor; documentele se trimit in format electronic la aproximativ 6-8 saptamani de la finalizarea cursului

*Acest test este 100% in limba engleza si este folosit de majoritatea scolilor din UK si de foarte multe scoli europene pentru indrumarea elevilor in alegerea viitoarei cariere.
Testul “Profiling Expert” ajuta elevii sa identifice directii potentiale spre anumite cariere si sa ia decizii documentate despre optiunile de studiu. Testul dureaza 110 de minute si include evaluari verbale, numerice si abstracte, precum si un chestionar despre aspiratiile si interesele in alegerea carierei. La final, candidatul primeste un raport online detaliat, de aprox 25 de pagini, care poate fi descarcat si salvat.
